An Israeli music concert featuring singer Tal Vaknin, an active reservist who has publicly shown his support for the Israeli army, suspected of genocide in Gaza by several international institutions, is organized at Place Victor Hugo in Paris.

The artist, who has frequently appeared on stage in military uniform, singing hymns of support and prayers for the IDF troops, will perform on Sunday during a concert sponsored by the association “The Truth”, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as part of the Music Festival.

On Thursday, a free concert organized by the France Insoumise (LFI) movement, scheduled for Sunday evening at Place de la République, was canceled by prefectural decree.

The prefecture cited the risk of disturbances to public order and the presence of “controversial guests”.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the LFI movement, reacted with virulence, denouncing a “serious democratic scandal”.

He had accused the president of CRIF, Yonathan Arfi, and the PS mayor of Paris Center, Ariel Weil, of having put pressure on the prefect to obtain a ban on the LFI concert.

An urgent appeal was filed against the order before the administrative court.
