Considered one of the pillars of global techno music, American DJ and producer Jeff Mills embodies the evolution of Detroit’s techno scene. His career began in 1984 on WDRQ radio under the name “The Wizard†, before founding the Underground Resistance collective alongside Mad Mike Banks, an essential reference in the electronic sphere.
Concerned about preserving his artistic independence, he launched the Axis label in 1992, allowing him to produce his own timeless electro compositions, inspired by science fiction.
With an average of 100 dates per year performing as a DJ around the world, Jeff Mills’ career goes well beyond simple techno music. For more than 10 years, he has transcended disciplines thanks to numerous collaborations in the field of contemporary art and the Jazz scene. A free electron who never stops to evolve and reinvent his art, freeing himself from borders.
Four associations at the helm of the evening
We owe the arrival of the illustrious American DJ at the Saline royale, to four associations passionate about electro music: 100 Filters, MerQLab, Thé Chaud and the Lédoniens de Bien dans ses baskets, who have already made themselves known in Lons-le-Saunier for having organized concerts there. events always with techno music as a common thread. This collective of four associations promises a festive, unifying and immersive evening of celebration. Jeff Mills, who played at the Nuits Sonores de Lyon last year, will also be at Jazz à Vienne on June 29, ten years after having already come.
