During the conference, Dr. Nguyen Van Dung, a renowned doctor and director of the city’s rehabilitation hospital, stated that spinal cord injuries are a serious condition caused by various factors such as road accidents, falls, or non-traumatic conditions like tumors, degeneration, vascular diseases, infections, or congenital malformations.
This type of injury significantly affects the motor function and quality of life of the patient. Pressure sores, in particular, are a common complication and pose many risks if not effectively managed.
During the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Dung presented a multidisciplinary rehabilitation model for patients with spinal cord injuries. This model, involving multiple specialties, implements a rigorous treatment process, from admission and evaluation to intervention and community support, helping patients regain mobility, stabilize their mental state, and reintegrate into society.
This workshop served as a scientific forum to update knowledge, share experiences, and discuss solutions regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injuries. Many in-depth presentations provided practical insights, contributing to improving treatment effectiveness, especially in primary healthcare.
