Looking for the perfect place to escape the sweltering summer heat? In a cinemaof course! And that’s good, from June 28 to July 1, 2026, the Film Festival invites itself into dark rooms across the four corners of France. What does this mean? Four days of celebration, four days of cinema and four days where you can enjoy without breaking your wallet.Â
Movies for the whole family
For four days, seats in all participating cinemas are at the single rate of €5. And among the feature films that should not be missed until then, we will find Toy Story 5, Supergirl, Shana — selection à la Quinzaine des Cinéastes de Cannes – Vertigo — the new film by Quentin Dupieux, also selected for the Cannes Filmmakers’ Fortnight —, or the documentary André is an idiot — with the voice of Kyan Khojandi.Â
More than 40 years of history
The Film Festival, it’s a long story. Créée June 14, 1985 by the Ministry of Culture, the National Federation of French Cinemas and other professionals in the field, this festival then allowed participants to buy a passport book « at the price of a cinema ticket which he can then reuse all dayallowing them to benefit from the preferential rate of 1 franc per session» (the equivalent of 15 cents currently), explains the National Center for Cinema and Image (CNC). The first edition was such a success that the event continued over the yearsevolving in its form, making cinema a central element of French cultural life.Â
