SC Bastia relocates upcoming match against Amiens

The Sporting Club de Bastia has officially announced the relocation of their next match against Amiens. This decision confirms the ongoing sanctions and could directly impact the visit of ASSE in the coming weeks.

The situation is becoming clearer for Bastia. In a statement released on Friday, the Corsican club confirmed that the match against Amiens, scheduled for April 3rd, will take place at the Paul-Lignon stadium in Rodez. This is a direct consequence of the sanctions imposed by the disciplinary committee, which include closed doors and a neutral ground. A first concrete signal that could set the tone for what’s to come.

Bastia forced to exile

Bastia had to urgently find a viable solution to host this match within a very short timeframe. The club expressed gratitude to Rodez and the local authorities for their responsiveness.

Behind this organization, the message is clear: the sanction is real and already being enforced.

The Sporting Club did not hide their annoyance. In their statement, the club denounces a decision considered severe, especially in a fragile economic context. Playing far from Furiani, without their supporters, represents a real handicap:

“The Sporting Club still deplores the severity of the decision taken against them, whose consequences appear particularly penalizing in a fragile economic context for French football. Forced to play away from Furiani and deprived of the support of its fans, the club intends to tackle the challenges ahead and remains fully committed to defending its colors.”

ASSE directly affected

This relocation inevitably raises a question: what will happen to the match against ASSE, scheduled for April 18th?

At this stage, nothing is official yet. But there is a trend emerging. If the sanction is upheld or extended after appearing before the disciplinary committee on April 8th, the Greens could also avoid Furiani.

This scenario is far from neutral. Playing Bastia at home is nothing like playing on a neutral ground. The atmosphere, pressure, context – everything changes. For Saint-Étienne, this could turn a reputedly tricky away game into a more manageable opportunity.

Everything will now be decided in the coming days. The final decision by the disciplinary committee is expected on April 8th.

Meanwhile, Bastia continues to challenge the sanction and explore all possible avenues, including an appeal. However, simultaneously, the club is already anticipating the sporting and logistical consequences.

The choice of Rodez for Amiens is evidence of this. For ASSE, the trip to Corsica may never take place. This could completely alter the course in the pursuit of their objectives.
