During the conference “Enterprises Contributing to Double-Digit Growth” on March 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need for a marked transition to a growth model based on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, considering it a strategic choice to achieve rapid and sustainable development goals.
Drawing from practical experience, Ms. Thai Huong, President of TH Group, stated that amidst various fluctuations such as pandemics, supply chain disruptions, or geopolitical conflicts, the consistent application of science and technology and modern management allowed the company to maintain strong growth momentum.
“The TH Group has consistently maintained double-digit growth, reaching 17% last year and targeting growth of 20.9% for 2026,” said Ms. Huong, highlighting that science and technology, green economy, and circular economy are crucial to improve the efficiency of the high-risk agricultural sector.
The company’s practices demonstrate tangible efficiency: while the share of locally produced fresh milk was only about 8% in 2008, it now stands at nearly 60%. In addition to its national development, the company has expanded its investments internationally, from Russia to Australia, and continues to seek opportunities in Indonesia.
Therefore, Ms. Huong suggested the need to develop mechanisms and policies for each sector and each stage to cultivate “leading” companies that dominate the market, while strongly promoting school nutrition policies related to sustainable development.
In the logistics sector, Mr. Le Anh Son, General Director of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), stated that the company is accelerating its digital transformation to generate outstanding growth.
As a result, the port system is evolving into a “smart port” model aiming for complete automation. The application of technologies helps streamline procedures, reduce handling and storage costs, thus contributing to the decline in logistics costs for the economy.
“We are integrating AI and automation into our port operations and maritime transport management systems to minimize costs,” stated Mr. Son.
Despite the sharp rise in fuel prices, companies are still aiming for double-digit growth while proposing to increase investments in inland waterway and railway infrastructure to optimize transportation costs – a key factor in enhancing national competitiveness.
Representing the textile and garment industry, Ms. Ninh Thi Ty, Chairwoman of the Ho Guom Group joint-stock company’s board of directors, declared that the development orientation based on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation is “the right direction” and an essential condition for companies to strengthen their position in the global value chain.
The technological challenge is not limited to the industry; it also arises in agriculture. According to Ms. Ty, companies still face difficulties in proactively securing plant varieties, despite years of collaboration with scientists.
“We recommend policies to encourage research and development of new high-yielding and high-value crop varieties,” emphasized Ms. Ty, while proposing tax incentives for technological investment, increased credit support, and further simplification of administrative procedures.
Regarding digital technologies, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the FPT Board of Directors, highlighted that artificial intelligence is becoming a fundamental pillar of growth.
According to Mr. Binh, Vietnam must quickly transition to an “AI-focused model” where all activities are supported by AI – to move towards an “AI-native model” with standardized data processed from the start.
“We have not yet truly reached the stage of AI primacy, while the world has evolved very quickly,” warned Mr. Binh, highlighting the risk of dependence on foreign platforms, which could affect data sovereignty and technological sovereignty.
Furthermore, expanding into international markets is considered essential to maintaining strong growth. Vietnamese companies must engage more in global value chains and leverage opportunities presented by innovation.
In his opening speech at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that, in the transition to a growth model based on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, companies are the engine and driving force of growth; they must also be pioneers in applying technologies, enhancing competitiveness, and expanding on a global scale.
“When companies develop, the country develops,” emphasized the Prime Minister, stating that the government will continue to improve institutions and remove obstacles to create the most favorable conditions for business prosperity in this new era.
