The schoolchildren of Chalindrey were waiting for it: the agreement with the gendarmerie was signed.
The 17 students in the defense class will be able to develop projects with their second sponsor unit after Sdis52 in 2025.
The signing of the agreement with the departmental gendarmerie, Wednesday June 3, allowed the students and teachers of the defense class to present the actions carried out within the framework of this option by these 4th year volunteer students.
“The objective is to make students responsible and enlightened citizens, to give them a sense of duty and solid ethics,” indicated the principal, Isabelle Donard. Lieutenant-Colonel Jérôme Lechat, representing Colonel Nolet of the departmental gendarmerie group, Captain Philippe Bresson, reservist gendarme, training director were present on rue des Adieux to sign the sponsorship agreement. “ We chose to create this option within the 4th because this level lends itself well to it. It’s a year where thinking about direction begins to take shape… indicates Isabelle Donard.
Participation in civic life
It is the extension of a system which offers meeting times and activities with military personnel to give students benchmarks for understanding defense and national security, through its actors and its issues, its history, its memory and its heritage,†added Lieutenant-Colonel Jérôme Lechat, satisfied with this double agreement “ a rarity which cited many professions and sectors linked to rescue and the service of his fellow citizens: firefighters, scientific gendarmerie, dog handler, field investigator, administration… On May 6, the 14 4th grade students visited the Chaumont gendarmerie, its motorized brigade, its criminal identification cell, the operations and intelligence center alongside their two dedicated teachers, Samuel Jean, referent teacher and Frédéric Juniper.
Five outings have already been made: visits to the Chalindrey gendarmerie brigade, Fort du Cognelot, the ramparts of Langres and the discovery of the fire station of the Cité du Rail.
Wednesday June 3, the students of the defense option went to the departmental platform of 18. They visited the departmental fire school and the barracks. They enjoyed the fire fighter’s journey.
Good for general culture
Marlène Nourry, reserve deputy, also indicated, when signing the agreement, the possibility, from the age of 16, of joining the gendarmerie cadets for one day a month in order to participate in new training, to discover other specialties of the gendarmerie. uniform professions.
The gendarmerie cadets, 25 young people from Hauts-Marne per annual session, in uniform, can, for example, parade in certain patriotic ceremonies, be welcomed at the prefecture, rekindle the flame under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, or share a day in Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises.
The enthusiasm of young people for this defense option did not surprise Isabelle Donard, the principal. “It is not necessarily linked to international news. Just look each year at the most popular stands at the careers forums: each time, those of the Army, Air Force, Navy, National Police or Gendarmerie are full! The attraction to these professions denotes a logic of citizenship among our young people.
Emie, Hanaé and Sacha, three volunteer students, agree: “this defense class really makes you want to discover other professions, see what that looks like and it’s good for our general culture .
