The Ukrainian army struck a Russian arms factory in central Russia overnight using cruise missiles manufactured in the country, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday June 10. Ukraine is working to develop its own missiles to compensate for the lack of supplies from its Western allies.
“Last night, Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingos hit a military factory in Cheboksary that supplies the occupier’s army
components for drones and missiles
“, declared the Ukrainian president.
He released a video showing a missile heading towards its target and plumes of smoke above a building. Cheboksary is
a Russian town located some 1,000 km from the border
in Chuvashia.
kyiv tested its own Flamingo missile in August 2025 with a claimed range of 3,000 kilometers. Its use remains relatively rare.
Growing number of attacks in Russia
“Early this morning, Cheboksary was the target of an attack (…). We are working to determine the number of victims and the extent of the damage caused to infrastructure”, indicated for his part Oleg Nykolaev, the governor of Chuvashia, a region located at 600 km east of Moscow.
kyiv also struck an oil refinery in the Samara region of Russia and an oil tanker
Russian forces in the Black Sea, the Ukrainian general staff said.
Ukraine produces certain long-range type missiles (Flamingo, Neptune) and receives French Scalp and British Storm Shadow cruise missiles from its European allies, but in small quantities. The Americans have so far not delivered the Tomahawk missiles that Volodymyr Zelensky hoped for.
The missile strikes are the latest in a growing number of offensive actions carried out on Russian territory by kyiv, more than four years after the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
