Xilam Animation (Paris:ALXIL), an independent production and distribution company for animated programs, will mark the Annecy International Animated Film Festival with rich news around its feature films and series. Highlights include a “Work in Progress” session dedicated to Louphis next feature film, in the form of a psychological thriller, adapted from the comic strip by Jean-Marc Rochette, as well as the official selections of Lucy Lostadaptation of the novel Listen to the Moon by British author Michael Morpurgo, and the new Disney+ series The Doomies. Presented as part of the “Work in Progress” sessions of the Annecy Festival, the feature film The Wolf is co-written and directed by Benjamin Massoubre and Fursy Teyssier, who had already collaborated on I lost my bodynominated for the Oscars in 2020. Produced by Marc du Pontavice for Xilam, the film is also co-written by Sabine Dabadie (Ourika). The Wolf tells the story of Gaspard, a solitary shepherd haunted by the death of his son, whose daily life is turned upside down by the threatening arrival of a wandering wolf. At the end of the presentation, a signing session will be organized with Jean-Marc Rochette, author of the comic strip from which the film is adapted.
After being presented in the “Work in Progress” session during the 2025 edition, Lucy Lost is selected this year in the Official Competition. Adapted from the novel Listen to the Moonpublished in 2014 by Michael Morpurgo, multi-award winning author in the United Kingdom, the film is co-written and directed by Olivier Clert (Klaus, The Little Prince), on a screenplay co-written with Helen Blakeman (Dustbin Baby, Hetty Feather). The feature film is produced by Marc du Pontavice for Xilam. Produced in the Xilam animation studio, Lucy Lost is marketed internationally by Goodfellas. In France, the film will be distributed by Le Pacte on October 28 and the paid distribution rights have already been acquired by Canal+ and Ciné+ OCS.
After a “Work in Progress” session noted during the 2024 edition, the supernatural horror comedy series The Doomies is selected in official competition in the TV Films category of the Annecy Festival. Produced by Xilam in association with Disney Television Animation, the series is created by Rémi Zaarour, Andrès Fernandez and Henry Gifford, and directed by Andrès Fernandez. It will be launched on Disney+ on June 26, during the festival, with a first season consisting of 22 26-minute episodes. This release will also be accompanied by a new series of short formats of four episodes.
