Russian forces intercepted 86 drones in the Saint Petersburg region, the city where a major investment forum is taking place, the regional governor announced on Saturday June 6. “Saint Petersburg was the target of a large-scale attack carried out by military drones”relayed Governor Aleksandr Beglov for his part. “I ask the residents of Saint Petersburg to stay at home and not go out”he added.

Pulkovo International Airport, south of the city, announced a temporary interruption of traffic, without specifying the reason. On Wednesday, at the opening of the St. Petersburg Forum, once nicknamed the “Russian Davos” in reference to the World Economic Forum, Ukrainian drones struck a nearby oil installation and military site. Guests arriving at the event were greeted with a plume of black smoke in the background.

This forum ends on Saturday June 6, the day after an intervention by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In total, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the interception of 376 Ukrainian drones overnight over the country.
