Mai Am Nhac sends a message of reprimand to the public.
Social networks are agitated following the story of singer Mai Am Nhac (currently known as MAYonair) who sent a private message to severely reprimand a user.
It all started when Mai Am Nhac posted on her Threads account: “No one in Vietnam listens to MAYonair’s music, it’s a pretty confidential genre,” thus following the trend of promoting high-quality products and services that are not yet widely known.
Contrary to initial expectations, this post mainly gave rise to negative comments such as: bad music, rap difficult to listen to, weak singing…

Mai Âm Nhạca responded directly to each negative comment. She chastised netizens who called her “superior” and “low in emotional intelligence”; she even posted a photo of herself giving the finger, not forgetting to include a marketing link.
Of note, the thbihn*** account posted screenshots of abusive messages from the verified Threads account belonging to Mai Âm Nhạc.
As a result, this person was the target of a deluge of insults from the Mai Âm Nhạc account, using vulgar and harsh language as well as an aggressive attitude.
The post received more than 40,000 likes and has been among the most discussed topics on Threads 2 for two days. Most Internet users are stunned by the singer’s incredibly impulsive behavior.
This is not the first time that Mai Am Nhac has sparked controversy through her behavior on social networks. On Threads, she refers to herself as “The Positive Woman” and has been noted on several occasions for her confrontational attitude towards other users.
When releasing the clip « Biet Choi » As of July 2025, she has responded to all YouTube comments, whether constructive or negative. In May of the same year, the singer even recorded a video to respond to detractors who criticized her dance moves.

Before Mai Am Nhac, many artists had sparked controversy, even going so far as to create a “brand” for themselves due to their aggressive and confrontational attitude towards their detractors.
Even seasoned artists like Duy Manh, Dam Vinh Hung, Ha Ho, Khac Viet, Vu Ha, Ly Nha Ky and Tuan Hung, despite their large fan base and years of experience, sometimes lost their cool and responded rudely and uncivilly to anti-fans.

More recently, the most notable case is that of the singer Le Quyen and her endless verbal jousts online. The high point came last January, when she accidentally insulted a fan using extremely derogatory language, denigrating the latter’s origins and family.

The incident sparked a wave of criticism against Le Quyen. According to experts, the virulence of his remarks went beyond the limits of ordinary criticism. As a result, Le Quyen was reprimanded by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and asked to improve her behavior and adopt a more civilized and polite attitude.
Singer Noo Phuoc Thinh is also known for his “inaccessible” side. He made headlines for sharply criticizing someone who called him “Sister Thinh,” as well as for his 2017 statement urging those making offensive comments to “pick up the trash and clean the toilets.”
The heated and frequent exchanges between singer Phuong Linh and her detractors have also attracted public attention. However, she has not caused any major controversy because she has always shown calm and restraint.

Mai Âm Nhạc, born in 1997, started out as a social media star, regularly setting trends on TikTok and Facebook. After starting a professional career, she acquired considerable notoriety during her participation in the second season by Rap Viet. However, the rapper was eliminated prematurely, without having made an impression.
In 2023, Mai Am Nhac changed her stage name to MAYonair, expanding her musical activities and also participating in TV shows such as Dance Battle et Street Dance Queen .
Despite her efforts, the songs released by the singer did not meet with the expected success. On the other hand, his responses to negative comments, in particular his insulting messages addressed to an Internet user, went viral in an unexpected way.
From a psychological perspective, people tend to remember, be concerned about, and be affected more by negative content (like reviews) than by positive content (like praise).
When artists get caught up in responding to every negative comment, they let their ego and self-preservation instinct guide them, instead of reason; worse yet, it reveals a lack of control over their emotions in the face of public pressure.
From a media perspective, when an influential star associates herself with vulgar language used on social media, she unintentionally lowers her own image to align with that of her counterparts.
The information that ultimately remains on the Internet is always “the artist used coarse and vulgar language” rather than “being harassed by Internet users.”

In other words, the more an artist engages in a cycle of retaliation, the more likely they are to find themselves caught in a downward spiral: attacks, retaliation, screenshots, and the story escalating well beyond the initial comment. At this point, the artist ends up giving time and energy to the other party.
It’s also worth noting that current social media platforms operate on engagement metrics. A post attracting hundreds of passionate comments is often identified by algorithms as “content that keeps users engaged” and is constantly featured at the top of trends.
Therefore, responding in the same manner is almost adding fuel to the fire, thereby contributing to the dissemination of this negative article to a more neutral audience. Furthermore, the incidents that have occurred over the years between artists and their detractors show that it is always a vain, absurd and unequal struggle; it neither eradicates the root of the problem nor causes unforeseen consequences.
Many artists who attempt to retaliate against their detractors end up suffering the consequences, notably by creating animosity, tarnishing their own image and building a bad reputation for years to come.
