Moroccan football reaches a new historic milestone. According to the FIFA world rankings published on June 3, 2026, the national selection now occupies 7th place in the world, the best ranking ever achieved by the Atlas Lions. A progression which confirms the rise of Morocco among the great nations of international football.

With a total of 1,756.94 points, Morocco gains a place in the world hierarchy and settles in 7th place in the FIFA rankings. This is the best performance in its history since the creation of the international body’s world ranking.
This progression rewards the excellent results recorded by the national selection in recent years, marked by notable performances in international competitions and consistency at the highest level.

The new ranking also illustrates the work carried out by all those involved in national football, from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to technical staff, including players playing in the biggest European championships.
Morocco dominates Africa and the Arab world
Thanks to this ranking, Morocco maintains its position as the first African nation ahead of several major selections on the continent. The Atlas Lions are ahead of Senegal, ranked 14th in the world, Nigeria (25th), Algeria (28th) and Egypt (29th).
On the Arab level, Moroccan domination is also confirmed. The Kingdom remains well ahead of Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, ranked 46th in the world, as well as Qatar, which occupies 55th place.
