The world of reality TV is in mourning. Loana passed away at the age of 48, as announced by Paris Match on Wednesday, March 25. According to initial reports, the former star of Loft Story was found lifeless at her home. It was a tragic ending for someone who had captivated viewers before moving them. Despite her bimbo appearance, the season 1 winner of Loft Story, the first reality show in France in 2001, had a very emotional character. Born on August 30, 1977 in Cannes, the beautiful blonde tried to make a living as a go-go dancer in nightclubs before becoming known to the public. On January 21, 1998, she gave birth to her daughter Mindy but lost custody of her. This wound never healed, especially since her daughter, now an adult, never wanted to see her again. Loana shared her struggles openly in her first book “Elle m’appelait Miette,” published in 2001, detailing her experiences with motherhood, her father’s violence, and her suicide attempts.

Despite a painful past, Loana had the potential to rise. After her success in Loft Story, she had many opportunities. In 2001 and 2002, she released two successful songs, “Comme je t’aime” and “Obsession.” She even walked for Jean-Paul Gaultier and launched her clothing line with a major retailer. However, her dreams quickly turned into a nightmare. On February 4, 2009, she was a victim of a violent assault in her home, resulting in severe injuries. In 2011, Loana made a comeback on TV with “Les Anges” on NRJ12. Later, she became a columnist on “Le Mag” on the same channel.

Despite admitting to several suicide attempts, Loana once again tried to take her life in January 2012 and was hospitalized in a psychiatric facility. Over the years, she struggled with weight gain, drugs, alcohol, and negative influences. In 2018, she seemed to be on the right track, even releasing a second book and appearing on the cover of Elle magazine. However, her tumultuous relationship with her ex-partner Fred Cauvin, who she accused of domestic violence, brought her more suffering. Images she shared on Instagram showed bruises and injuries.

In October 2020, Loana was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in critical condition, struggling with alcohol and drug abuse once again. Although she made a public statement in February, promising to quit illicit substances, she ended up hospitalized in February due to a drug overdose. Despite showing signs of improvement, the cycle of struggles continued for Loana, ultimately resulting in a tragic fate.
