Quebec comes to Montpellier. This Tuesday, June 2, the Domaine de Grammont is hosting “Cap sur le Québec,” an economic forum intended to strengthen exchanges between businesses, researchers and institutions from the two territories.
Montpellier is continuing its international opening strategy. After putting Morocco in the spotlight last year, the Metropolis is organizing this Tuesday, June 2 at the Domaine de Grammont the economic forum “Cap sur le Québec”, a meeting intended to bring together economic, institutional and academic players on both sides of the Atlantic.
Supported by Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole with the support of the Occitanie Region, AD’OCC, the Hérault Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the City of Castelnau-le-Lez and the CNER, this half-day aims to create concrete opportunities for cooperation between Occitan and Quebec companies.
Among the expected personalities are Henri-Paul Rousseau, general delegate of Quebec in Paris, and Marie-Claude Bibeau, mayor of Sherbrooke. Both will participate in the opening of the event alongside the mayor of Montpellier and president of the Metropolis, Michaël Delafosse.
A gateway between Europe and North America
The stated ambition is clear: to facilitate access for Occitan companies to the North American market while making Montpellier a preferred gateway for Quebec companies wishing to develop in Europe. The health, digital, artificial intelligence, renewable energies and cultural and creative industries are among the priority sectors.
“We share the same culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, research and creation”underlines Michaël Delafosse. According to him, Montpellier can become a European support point for Quebec companies while offering local players a springboard towards North America.
On the program: a plenary session devoted to investment opportunities, discussions on cultural differences between French and Canadians, as well as several round tables dedicated to the financing and establishment of businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. The day will end with a networking session bringing together entrepreneurs, investors and institutional representatives.
At the same time, Montpellier will also welcome business delegations from Sherbrooke and Drummondville. A presence which illustrates the desire of the two territories to develop lasting partnerships around innovation and economic development.
This forum will finally serve as a prelude to the Montpellier-Sherbrooke university meetings, organized from June 3 to 5, confirming the density of the links which already unite the Hérault metropolis and the Canadian province.
