The University of Guelph has achieved a new milestone by being recognized in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, appearing in a record 15 subjects globally. The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) has been ranked as the best in Canada and has climbed to fourth place globally in veterinary science. The University’s agriculture and forestry programs have also excelled, ranking first in Canada and 14th globally. The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) has attracted students worldwide for its research in food and agricultural science and has launched a new Master of Sustainable Agriculture program.
Both OAC and OVC have been ranked first in Canada for their academic and employer reputation, as well as top five in research citations. The Hospitality and Tourism Management program at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics has been named the second best in Canada, maintaining its global leadership for the fifth consecutive year. The University has also debuted in three new subjects in the global rankings this year and is set to launch a new master’s program through the Guelph Institute of Development Studies.
In addition, U of G has achieved top rankings in environmental sciences, anatomy, physiology, and biological science in Canada and globally. Dr. Rene Van Acker, the president and vice-chancellor, emphasized the significance of these rankings for students and the communities they serve. The University’s success in the QS rankings reflects its strong reputation as a top Canadian university focused on outstanding teaching and research across various disciplines. QS’s comprehensive analysis covered over 18,300 individual university programs worldwide, recognizing U of G’s commitment to excellence in education and research.
