If the Germans took a while to get into their match, they just had to break the deadlock in the match and then set up their game perfectly. Author of a great season for Stuttgart, Deniz Undav has probably taken a big step towards a starting place in Julian Nagelsmann’s eleven at the World Cup. It was from a corner that Undav managed to break the deadlock with his header thanks to a saved kick perfectly executed by Joshua Kimmich (1-0, 34e).
The Germans continued their march forward in the second half. Florian Wirtz doubled the lead thanks to a high recovery from the inevitable Undaz (2-0, 49e). Scorer and passer, Undav scored a double just before the hour mark to score his sixth goal in eight selections (3-0, 57e). But fate fell hard against the former Brighton player who had to give up his place a few minutes later, visibly injured in the thigh (61e).
