Transcending and crossing styles, Thomas Hurter, visionary choir director and arranger, is used to it. He has even made it the hallmark of his successive creations. Like previous projects featuring Queen or Pink Floyd, this new opus promises a daring rereading of the repertoire of Metallica, System of a Down, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, AC/DC or Rage Against The Machine.

The raw force of metal and the harmonic depth of a 120-voice choir

Thomas Hurter’s harmonizations offer an experience where the raw force of metal combines with the harmonic depth of a 120-voice choir, to reveal an unsuspected dimension of these two universes.

Alongside the Catharsis backing vocalists, five musicians from the Strasbourg metal scene bring additional power. Starting with drummer Grégory Hiltenbrand, historic member of Los Disidentes Del Sucio Motel, a flagship group of stoner and progressive rock from Strasbourg, Daniel Scherding, the singer of the same group where he has combined keyboard and vocals for 20 years, guitarist Léo Heid, member of several groups including Blurry Tale, Wends or Newfolder, bassist and keyboardist Melody Meyer Di Rosa and Tibo Fassler on guitar and bass, founder of the collective “Les Chansons Presqu’Orphelines”.

A challenge for Thomas Hurter who designed all the adaptations with a constant guideline – placing the choir at the center of the project. “Here, the choir accompanies neither a group nor a singer; it is the musicians who support the real stars of the evening, the 120 choristers,” confides the choir director.

Composer and arranger, Thomas Hurter likes to explore and reveal the orchestral dimension of the vocal ensembles he leads. A promise that he also makes for “In the choir of metal”.
