For nine months, Vianney was able to count on the unwavering support of his wife, Catherine Robert. An accomplished cellist, mother and stage partner, she has shared her life since 2016, far from the spotlight.
Wood had replaced music, at least for a time. In recent months, Vianney has attracted a lot of attention by documenting the construction of a cabin in the wilderness, built with his own hands, far from the hubbub of big cities and concert halls. A wish to get back to basics, he said then, with a long beard and a lumberjack shirt: “For five years I have put my whole heart into projects for others, with others, and I loved it. I feel the need to turn these pages for a while, to find myself. Over the next few months, I have planned to be more alone, in silence, a little further away too,” he wrote on Instagram, a whole year ago And to say: “Maybe I need to be a bit of a carpenter to relearn how to become a singer.” At the time, the artist was however far from giving up. doubting the enthusiasm that this project would generate among its fans and those who discovered it.

After a year of retirement in the forest, Vianney makes a remarkable return to Roland-Garros with his wife Catherine Robert
At the beginning of April, after nine months of “unforgettable” work, “discoveries in difficulties, satisfactions in recovery”, Vianney announced the end of his project. “Today I look at this cabin, I thank it and I love it, as if we had grown up together. So much sweat and heart at work, but this path was necessary for me. All your words, your thoughts, were my fuel. In the rain, the snow or the solitude, all that counted enormously. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. And thank you forever to my wife and our children, who have supported me since day one. Vianney the carpenter, soon to be a singer.”

Collaborations with Véronique Sanson and Julie Zenatti
It is true that the artist was able to count on the support of his wife, Catherine Robert, whose life he has shared since 2016. According to information relayed in the press, the couple met through music, the young woman being herself a cellist by profession. Born in 1986, she has a particularly remarkable career path. In 1999, she notably obtained a gold medal at the Saint-Étienne Conservatory before joining the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, from which she graduated in 2007.
A recognized musician, she then multiplied collaborations with numerous French artists, including Véronique Sanson, Kendji Girac, Julie Zenatti, Florent Pagny and M. Pokora. It is also in this environment that she crosses paths with Vianney, whom she will accompany on several concerts. In 2018, when they were already a couple, she performed alongside him on the set of the show “Ce soir©el”, broadcast on TF1.
Interviewed last year byLou Averagea media dedicated to inspiring mothers and women, the singer also praised, among the qualities of his wife, her extreme demands and her lack of ego. “In my wife, I admire many things. It’s intimate what I admire in her but if I can say one thing anyway, it’s her non-competitive spirit.” And continues: “Being a cellist, she is a perfectionist in a way I have rarely seen someone be in the studio. She is hyper-conscientious, but above all she doesn’t want to crush anyone, take someone’s place or go in front and that inspires me a lot.”

Both also seem to share a passion other than that of music: the love of sport, and more particularly tennis. It was in the stands of Roland-Garros that they appeared together for the first time in 2016. We would then see them regularly at Porte d’Auteuil: arm in arm in 2018, then alongside Pierre Niney and his wife Natasha Andrews, themselves clay court fans.
In 2021, their family grew with the birth of a little boy named Edgar. A new step for the couple who are already raising a child. Because when Vianney meets Catherine Robert a few years earlier, she is already the mother of a little girl whose first name and age have never been made public. The singer also dedicated the song to his role as father-in-law Step-dadreleased in 2020 on his album Let’s not wait. “I hadn’t planned / To one day adopt / My child I had to” / Above all, adapt (…) It’s not just genes / Who make families / Humans who love each other, that’s enough,” he hummed. That same year, Vianney married Catherine Robert during a ceremony celebrated with the greatest discretion.

Patience and lots of love
In 2025, he returned to his daily life at the head of a small tribe. Speaking about his role as father-in-law at RFM, the singer believed that two qualities were essential: “patience” and a lot of “love”. “It is simply by loving this child that things will go well in the long term. Each person with whom we build our life has a previous experience. And that must be embraced. You shouldn’t judge him.” Regarding his daughter-in-law, he also confided: “I love her deeply. (…) We can only love a child, there are no other solutions,” also specifying that the relationship between him and the biological father is also in good shape. As for little Edgar, he explained: “I am present. I think I must make lots of mistakes like all dads but, at least, he sees me every morning, every evening, every weekend. I am truly present. I have a job where I can be in control of my schedule, so afterward it’s up to me to make the choice to be there or not.”
As for Vianney and Catherine, they still reconcile their artistic collaborations and their family life today, which they strive to keep out of sight. In August 2024, even before embarking on his major cabin project, the singer nevertheless shared a rare family photograph on Instagram. There we saw Catherine Robert, her cello in her hand, while he carried their son in his arms. “Dear diary, today I learned that recording a cello with a 2 and a half year old child in the studio was quite an ambitious thing. But apart from that, everything is going well.” A remark which, almost two years later, seems more true than ever.
