Coming across your favorite manga hero on the bend of an alley, attending a cosplay parade or a Kpop demonstration, marveling at the works of hundreds of creators, tasting a traditional Japanese recipe, learning a martial art, facing a stranger on an old console or even being tattoo… No question of getting bored at Japan (formerly Japan Addict), which has continued to develop for twenty-two years! The new edition will take place on June 6 and 7 at the Exhibition Center around a new theme: robots and ships.

A new theme

“We had never really tackled this theme which is also very present in pop culture while being very current. Robots are increasingly present in our daily lives (drones, humanoid robots…) and French robotics is on the rise,” explains organizer Alexandre Bertrand, president of the Kakémono association.

Two new spaces will therefore be offered this year. The robot village will be run by Meka Neko, a store specializing in models of mechas (Japanese robots) like Grendizer, Evangelion, Gundam and Power Rangers. Introductions to assembly, an exhibition and guests will be present on site. A few meters further, the association of model makers of Lorraine will offer a ship village with models of spaceships from well-known films or series, but also creations, models on studio scale, replicas of filming models…

400 stands, a Korean corner and three stages

The rest of the convention will be faithful to previous editions with a large space dedicated to creators (illustrations, jewelry, accessories…), sellers of figurines, wigs and outfits with a total of nearly 400 stands.

Visitors will also find the cosplay village as well as the children’s and babies’ centers, video games, traditional Japan and the Korean corner. The latter will highlight K-culture (dance, singing…), the Korean language and K-Beauty (Korean cosmetics) through performances and meetings with different guests (Joje, Lo-Reen…).

After the success of a first edition last year, the tattoo center will be present again with around ten artists who will offer flashes linked to geek culture.

Demonstrations and initiations of different martial arts will take place in the tatami area while quizzes, parades and cosplay competitions as well as dance shows will be offered on the main stage and the Korean stage.

The voices of Simpsons of Hunger Games et la Team Game one

Many guests will follow one another during the convention with big names in dubbing including the voices of Marge and Homer Simpson and Katniss from Hunger Games. On the video games side, Marcus will make his return accompanied by a large part of Team Game One. The group Secret Zero will offer a concert of rock covers of anime theme songs.
