After a first day devoted to schools this Friday, the Terra Trad festival continues around traditional singing and dancing, this Saturday, around the Ibos collegiate church.
The Terra Trad festival returns this weekend to Ibos, on the outskirts of Tarbes. At the initiative of CDMDT 65 (the Departmental Center for traditional music and dances of the Hautes-Pyrénées), Gascon and Pyrenean culture will be in the spotlight this Saturday. After a day on Friday dedicated to youth where children from several schools in the department were able to approach traditional culture in all its forms through different workshops concluded with a concert and a ball.
This Saturday, it’s time for their elders who will take over to raise the voice of this living culture. The day will begin with workshops, firstly singing led by Mickaël Vidal from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., then dancing with Monique Rousse (from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
From 5 p.m., head to the college where the students from the polyphonic workshops of Ibos and Arcizans-Dessus and the instrumental workshops of CDMDT 65 will perform a traditional repertoire with their guests. Then, at 7 p.m., a cantera will resonate in the hall, before a children’s ball extends the evening for young and old. A grand ball will conclude the day from 9 p.m. with first the students of CDMDT 65 then the Cubrana duo.
All of these meetings are open to all, with free participation. Refreshment bar and catering provided on site and in a warm atmosphere.
