Tarif préférentiel
For the re-edition of the work written by 14 volunteer Bidachots (a few have unfortunately disappeared, but their memory remains), Bidache Culture is offering a preferential rate reducing the price of the beautiful 192-page book, including some 110 illustrations, from 30 to 25 euros. The procedure to follow is simple. This involves placing an order through the association’s merchant site and sending the necessary subscription form, accompanied by a check payable to Bidache Culture, to Éditions Bidache Culture – Mairie de Bidache, 25, rue des Jardins, 64520 Bidache.
If demand is sufficient, the opus, whose origins lie with Michel Dallemane, mayor at the time, and Éric Bur, first president of Bidache Culture, will be reprinted. “Printing costs have increased considerably in sixteen years and the association’s cash flow is very tight,” laments Jean Paul Sudaka. A digital edition is envisaged, without certainty that this type of electronic media coincides with the tastes of the readership.
Stubborn shadow
A book with a strong historical content with the strong seal of the Dukes of Gramont, “When the Bidachots tell… Bidache” lifts the veil on the habits and customs of the population fortunately infused with a Sovereignty suddenly enriched by the industrial and artistic exploitation of its stone, a gift of complex geology.
Farmers, artisans, breeders, fishermen and stonemasons: the tenacious shadow of a small, modest and proud people parades along the pages of a book whose future now poses a form of challenge.
