“À Toulousethe cultural offer is plentiful, observes Justine, a third-year law student. There are plenty of museums, cinemas and outdoor matches, concerts… We also have the Rose Festival, put on by Big Flo and Oli, which is particularly popular.”
Marion, a master’s student in law, confirms the diversity of sporting and musical events in Toulouse. “I go to the Rose Festival every year, but there is also the Rio Loco, and a lot of concerts at the Zénith. I am also part of an athletics club, which regularly organizes events,” testifies the young woman.
In the North, Douai also organizesi an urban trailsince 2019. Organized in December, it highlights emblematic places of this city rich in UNESCO-listed heritage. The neighboring town, Lens is full of cultural places such as the Coliseum Lens, the city’s main municipal theater. But the most emblematic place is the Louvre-Lens. The “Gallery of Time” of this museum offers a free permanent exhibition, while the “Glass Pavilion” hosts temporary exhibitions. The Louvre-Lens enriches this program with film screenings, conferences and debates.
The urban area Douai-Lens thus ranks fifth in the “Culture” criterion, at the same level as the major metropolises of Nice, Marseille and Paris.
