We are living in a paradoxical era where unlimited access to information seems to be accompanied by an unprecedented decline in rational thinking.

mathematician Bernard Beauzamy and his guests have raised the alarm on what they call contemporary obscurantism. This phenomenon does not reside in the absence of knowledge, but in the systematic substitution of scientific proof by an emotional and media-driven “consensus.”

Science, by definition, is based on doubt, verifiability, and contradiction. However, the current public space too often transforms the scientific approach into an unquestionable dogma of the state. Uncertain mathematical models are presented as absolute truths, ignoring the fundamental rules of probabilities to serve ideological narratives.

This fragility of evidence, amplified by media outlets that favor slogans over arguments, establishes a form of “cancel culture” where any questioning is immediately disqualified. This new obscurantism is based on an erosion of deliberative educational requirements.

By weakening the mastery of logical tools and fundamental disciplines, citizens are deprived of the necessary intellectual structure to detect manipulations. The result is a general vulnerability to arguments of authority: indignation replaces demonstration, and ideological conformity prevails over the quest for truth. Rediscovering the courage of rigor, following the example of the work of Professor Paul Deheuvels, is now a necessary act of resistance to preserve our freedom of thought.
