From May 29 to 31, a conference, a concert and a private tour of the 18th century apartment, the library and the chapel make up a rich and varied program, offering activities for all tastes. The public can choose to participate in a single event or immerse themselves throughout the weekend in the castle’s cultural programming.
Friday May 29 and Saturday May 30the conference “Philippe de Champaigne: places, faces, objects” will offer the public a fascinating insight into this exceptional artist (1602-1674) and his era: literature, spirituality, philosophy, history, art history are to be discovered.
Saturday May 30 at 8 p.m.the conference will continue with a concert at the castle “Music in the time of Philippe de Champaigne” by Claire Lefilliâtre (vocals) and Stéphane Fuget (harpsichord). Spectators will have the privilege of listening to the music performed on Claude Labrèche’s harpsichord acquired in 2024 and classified as a Historic Monument: “A rare instrument, built in Carpentras in 1699 by Claude Labrèche… Today only two examples of this famous 17th century instrument maker remain, one in Stuttgart and the other in Bournazel”explain the organizers.
Sunday May 31 at 3 p.m.this weekend of exceptional events will end with a private visit to parts of the castle, not included in the usual guided tours: the Renaissance library which will eventually house 10,000 volumes and which will allow resident students to carry out their research; 18th century apartment and rich collection of furniture, paintings and sculptures from the 16th to the 18th century; 17th century chapel called “of the Children of Madame de Montespan” rebuilt on the second floor of the east wing: “The altarpiece, the woodwork and the decorations are classified as Historic Monuments”, conclude the organizers.
