Donald Trump Jr., 48, is set to marry his fiancée Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas this weekend. This will be the second marriage for the eldest son of the Trump family, after his divorce from Vanessa Trump in 2018, according to CNN.
The wedding took place against a backdrop of US President Donald Trump’s efforts to reach an agreement with Iran to end the conflict that erupted in late February. The US leader also faces domestic political pressure as his popularity declines while citizens suffer the consequences of rising gas prices and the cost of living.
“My son wants me to be there. It’s an intimate wedding, and I will do my best to attend. But I have to say that the timing is not ideal. I have the situation with Iran and a lot of other things to deal with,” Trump told reporters at the White House on May 21, when asked about his presence at his son’s wedding.
The US president said he was fully aware of the media reaction if he attended the wedding while the situation in the Middle East remained unresolved.
“Whether I go or not, the media which spread false information will still criticize. This is the kind of situation where you are attacked no matter what. My son married someone I’ve known for a long time. I just hope they have a happy marriage,” he said.
Donald Trump Jr. is currently executive vice president of the Trump Organization and a strong supporter of his father’s MAGA agenda. He frequently appears alongside Mr. Trump at political events, including when he returned to the White House after his stay at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month.
Last year, Donald Jr. hinted that he might run for president “at some point.” As for Donald Trump, his second and final term will end in January 2029, and he has not yet publicly designated a political successor.
Donald Trump Jr. married Vanessa Trump in 2005 and had five children before divorcing. He then became engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, whom President Trump appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Greece in 2025 after their separation.
The eldest son of the American president then began a relationship with Bettina Anderson, 39 years old. The couple announced their engagement during a Christmas party at the White House in December 2025.
