In the final game of the 27th round of Ligue 1, Strasbourg traveled to face FC Nantes. Starting in 8th place, the Alsace team needed a win to maintain hope in the European race. On the other side, Vahid Halilodzic, called upon to save the club, made his debut as the head coach of the Canaries. For this match, the Nantes coach chose a 4-3-3 formation with Tabibou on the right, Abline on the left, and Ganago at the forefront of this offensive trio. Meanwhile, RCSA lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Fofana leading the attack.
Eager to attack, FCN quickly took the lead as Tabibou’s left-footed strike, assisted by Abline, beat Penders on his right side (1-0, 6th minute). Despite several clear chances (18th, 34th, 43rd), Nantes couldn’t extend their lead and paid the price just before halftime. Maximillian Oyedele scored a beautiful goal with his right foot in the 45+2nd minute to level the score (1-1).
In the second half, a transformed Nantes team regained the lead with Abline’s goal in the 53rd minute. Despite crucial saves by Lopes, RCSA managed to equalize with Panichelli’s goal in the 78th minute. After a tense finish with chances for both sides, Panichelli scored again in the 90+2nd minute to secure a 3-2 victory for Strasbourg. With this result, Nantes remains in 17th place and Strasbourg stays at 8th but still dreams of European qualification.
