The studio Papa Legba Records, located on Victor-Hugo street in Auch, is a dedicated space for music creation, recording, and dissemination, offering events and artistic meetings open to the public.
A unique space recently opened at the top of Victor Hugo street, aiming to showcase music in all its forms. Nested among shared premises hosting a carpenter, a graphic designer, and the Alternative Waste Movement (MAD) association, Papa Legba Records established its recording studio a few months ago.
Founded in 2019 by passionate enthusiasts, the Auscitaine association seeks to promote and animate the local music scene. It expanded its activities to provide support for local and emerging artists by offering resources like a recording studio, communication tools, and distribution assistance.
In the past year, Papa Legba transformed into an independent record label, offering support to musicians from creation to production. They can now record albums, handle phonographic production, and manage distribution. The founder, Leo Ferreira-Furet, detailed this development in April 2025.
The label decided to find a permanent location for its studio, previously established in Leo Ferreira-Furet’s home. After a few months of renovations, Papa Legba Records set up its drums, amplifiers, and mixing tables in the former Watt & Co store building, specialized in insulation. Artists are now welcome to record in the studio and receive support throughout the production process.
Using analog recording techniques similar to the 1970s, the label aims to emphasize the depth of sound and prioritize the musical project’s artistic direction. Beyond a recording studio, the open space also functions as a modifiable area with a small boutique section for hosting events.
Papa Legba organizes exhibitions, animations, vinyl listening nights, and themed moments focused on music appreciation. The goal is to place music listening at the center of its activities to create a unique musical experience for visitors.
