As for several seasons, Toulouse have made their defense a strength on which they rely, especially when it comes to regaining confidence. A sector that will need to be at its best, this Saturday (6 p.m. at the Michel-Bendichou stadium in Colomiers), on the occasion of the reception of Warrington, 3rd best attack in the championship, during the 11th day of the Super League.
If you haven’t yet seen the summary of Toulouse’s success against Hull FC, don’t look for points scored in the second act.
Upon returning from the locker room, the Olympians erected the “entry defense” sign, and the main “highlights” at the end of the match were tackles and saves in the goal. “It’s a great accounting operation which is especially good for morale,” breathes second row Maxime Stefani. “It’s thanks to our defense that we won, we spent forty minutes not giving up and it paid off,” salutes the Saint-Gaudinois, whose shoulders needed ice after the confrontation.

TO XIII: uncomfortable evening for Toulouse Olympique, logically and largely beaten in Hull, the Toulouse residents remain last
Plagued by doubt and faced with the adversity of a series of seven defeats in a row, TO XIII decided to reconnect with its DNA to succeed in relaunching itself. “Defense has been a strong point for four years, I would say, and even if we have made some adjustments, the philosophy remains the same,” comments the Commingeois, faithful disciple of the “Toustou” method. Sylvain Houlès’ assistant is the architect of a sector that has become one of the bases of rugby played by Toulouse residents.
“We have to be strong, united and coordinated, beyond the individual physical challenge, it is a collective challenge that we must take on by ensuring that all the pieces fit together perfectly”, details Maxime Stefani with precision. The slightest fault is prohibited in a Super League where the equation is simple: an error often equals a try.
A recipe that has gone through an evolution
“Compared to 2022, I find that the impacts are the same, but the game goes much faster, particularly around downs where the referees are instructed to smooth out the pace in order to approach NRL standards,” analyzes the Olympian second row.

INTERVIEW. “The Super League is about attention to detail!” advances Toulouse Olympique player Thomas Lacans before the reception at Warrington this Saturday
Accelerated transitions, increased endurance and fewer areas of struggle, this is how we can describe the Super League version 2026. A championship in which Toulouse knows that it has the means to exist without angry defeats or too late awakenings. “We have to start stronger, impose our pace and want to win more than just ensuring a good overall performance,” confides the French international. An analysis that is timely since the speech and the method will have to pass the Warrington test, which presents itself with the 3rd best attack in the division and its formidable attacking trio Thewlis-Hopoate-Ashton (nineteen tries in total).
