The Israeli army said it had killed more than 220 fighters from the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement in southern Lebanon over the past week. This announcement coincides with the second day of direct negotiations in Washington between Lebanon and Israel, aimed at ending the war.

An Israeli soldier was killed in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army announced, bringing to 20 the number of deaths in its ranks in clashes with pro-Iranian Hezbollah since the beginning of March. Staff Sergeant Negev Dagan, aged 20, “Fallen in combat in southern Lebanonâ€wrote the army in a press release.
In total, 20 Israelis have been killed in Lebanon – 19 soldiers and one contract worker working for the army – since the war began on March 2. Over the same period, Israeli bombings left more than 2,800 dead in Lebanon, including at least 200 children, according to Beirut.
