The days go by and look the same in southern Lebanon with these Israeli strikes. Before attacking, the IDF ordered the evacuation of eight villages. Since April 17 and the entry into force of a ceasefire, the army has been destroying Hezbollah positions in the region. In Haret Saida, new graves are constantly being dug. The displaced people who fled the war buried their loved ones. “We work day and night in the cemetery to accommodate as many bodies as possible. Over the past month, 98 victims of this war have been buried”indicates Hassan Saleh, head of the cemetery committee.

A truce which is not respected and an already very heavy toll. The Lebanese authorities summoned the press the day before yesterday and gave figures: more than 2,800 dead in two and a half months of war, including 380 since the truce came into force. “Civilians are protected by international human rights agreements. However, we keep repeating, the Israeli enemy never respects these places”accuses the Lebanese Minister of Health, Rakan Nassereddine.

On Wednesday May 13, Israel targeted cars in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the stronghold of Hezbollah. The objective is the same: annihilate the pro-Iranian Shiite movement in Lebanon. The means and time it takes do not matter, Benjamin Netanyahu reminded. “The Iranians want Hezbollah to stay in Lebanon as it continues to torture the country and take its population hostage”declares the Israeli Prime Minister.

Rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel continue despite the ground offensive launched by the Israeli army in recent weeks.
