As in 2022 during its first stay, the day before the opening of the Bandas Festival, the Mexican band Renniw Brass Band stopped off in the village of Saint-Puy. This brass band comes from the city of Puebla de los Angeles, located 110 km southeast of Mexico City, at an altitude of 2,160 m, and with more than a million and a half inhabitants.
For this 2026 edition, the group travels with 14 musicians, aged 19 to 27, to participate in the general competition. They will face groups from different countries such as Spain and Belgium, but also from France.
This evening was a great success since the party committee, which had planned a sausage, fries and dessert catering for €10, welcomed nearly 150 participants who came especially to listen and honor with their friendship this musical group, who deserved it.
Michel Labatut, mayor of the town, invited the deputy David Taupiac, the president of the Ténarèze Tourist Office, Christian Touhé-Rumeau, the former president of the festival Pierre Verduzan, as well as some mayors from neighboring villages, for this aperitif session, before meeting at the town hall of Condom the next day for the handing over of the keys by Jean-François Sabathier, mayor of Condom.
To conclude, Larios, the emissary of the Mexican fanfare, declared: “We will represent Mexico, share our music and our culture. It is also about reconnecting with the friends we met in 2022 and continuing to build international links through art.”
