At first glance, nothing destined multimedia students, those in DU PAREO* or literary fields to confront project creation. And yet, every year, many of them participate in the Innovation Challenge organized by the University of Corsica Foundation. For some, this idea competition acts as a revelation of unsuspected skills.
“In our current society, the ability to undertake is essential, regardless of the profession,” explains Graziella Luisi, director of the Foundation. “It’s not just about creating an innovative company, but being able to propose, innovate, and mobilize a team.” A vision that goes beyond traditional economic fields.
With 38 teams engaged this year, the Innovation Challenge attracts a diverse range of profiles. While some programs integrate it as an obligation, others participate voluntarily.
This is especially true for students in the Multimedia and Computer Science Technology Degree (MMI) or DU PAREO, programs that, while incorporating some entrepreneurship modules, do not focus their pedagogy on business creation and management.
Willing and Entrepreneurial Students
For these students, the experience provides an immersion in a new world. “We touch on areas like finance that we don’t see at all in MMI,” emphasizes Alexandre Dubois, 20. “It broadens the mind and prepares us for creating a company or a project.”
It is a similar experience for Anthony Muraccioli: “It allows us to touch the reality of a professional daily life.” A concrete confrontation with project constraints and logic.
In the case of DU PAREO, engagement relies entirely on voluntary participation. The team behind the project “Merenda Box,” a connected meal box, saw it as more of an opportunity than an obligation. “We knew we had everything to gain,” explains Laetitia Bereni, 18.
From Challenge to Project Realization
In addition to the project itself, a transformation of posture occurs. “The challenge will help us in our business mindset,” adds Angelina Guerra. Learning to work in a team, structure an idea, and defend it to a jury are transferable skills, regardless of the profession.
Summing up, the Challenge innovation has profoundly changed the way entrepreneurship is approached at the University of Corsica in thirteen years. Initially designed for students in economics, it has gradually spread to all fields.
