Today at 14:53 LFI withdraws its Lyon-West list to prevent the Lyon metropolitan area from “turning right”
The France Insoumise party announces the withdrawal of one of its lists for the Lyon metropolitan area election, in an attempt to beat the right supported by Jean-Michel Aulas.
“We will withdraw our Lyon-West list so that Mr. Aulas is defeated in this constituency, and that we increase the chances of left-wing lists being in the majority in seats on Sunday,” explained LFI deputy Gabriel Amard.
In Lyon-West, the LR list received 41.19% of the votes in the first round, followed by the outgoing majority left-wing union list (30.59%) and the LFI list (10.85%).
Residents of Lyon and its outskirts also vote for the powerful Lyon metropolitan area, the only community of agglomeration elected by direct universal suffrage, which includes 58 municipalities and 1.4 million inhabitants.
The territory is divided into 14 constituencies. The Lyon-West constituency encompasses the 5th and 9th arrondissements of the city.
