It’s the season of unpleasant surprises for the candidates of The Voice. After Yanis Si Ah’s rant, it was Laurent who spoke following his departure from the adventure, Saturday May 9. The candidate from the Tayc team explained on social networks that he had not been eliminated, contrary to what was shown in the editing of the show.
His departure took place between the very first stage of the blind auditions and that of the battles. The TF1 telecrochet has in fact added an additional round this year: the qualifications. Tayc chose to pit four talents from his team against each other: Roddy, Mickaëlle, Maysha and therefore Laurent. And at the end of this musical fight, viewers believed they had witnessed the elimination of Laurent Traversa in favor of Roddy Julienne.
But on Instagram, the candidate published a story (which has since disappeared) in which he states: “I won the qualifiers but I left on my own right after because a song was forced on me that I didn’t like. But TF1 to continue the program had to edit a sequence saying that I had lost. In short…
A few hours later, the now ex-candidate provided details and qualified his remarks: “Honestly, I left suddenly and TF1 did what they could to continue the program. I thought they were going to explain things, but I also understand their way of handling it. » Laurent had amazed the four coaches during the blind auditions by covering Prince’s hit Purple Rain. He thus joined the Tayc team for the rest of the adventure.
This speech by the candidate comes a few days after that of Yanis Si Ah, candidate for Florent Pagny’s team, already on the subject of the new qualifying test. After his elimination on May 2, the candidate said he was shocked that TF1 had drastically cut the artists’ performances during editing, and in particular his own. “A song is a beginning, a middle, an end; a story, nuances. It doesn’t mount. “It’s shown, it’s heard.” he wrote on Instagram, before urging the channel to broadcast the entirety of their performances at least on social networks. Despite these different statements, season 15 of The Voice continues on TF1. This week, viewers will be able to discover a new test: performances. It will allow for the first time the telecrochet candidates to decide on their song and their staging. This “carte blanche” evening will be broadcast on Friday May 15.
