Despite these repeated accusations and a call for a boycott, Patrick Bruel contests the facts and remains presumed innocent in court.
A new testimony revives the controversy
Last March, a Mediapart investigation revealed several accusations against Patrick Bruel. Women spoke of sexual assault and alleged rape over a long period, between 1991 and 2019. Since this publication, other testimonies have emerged. Friday May 8, Libération relayed the anonymous story of a woman now aged 33. She claims to have met the singer in a professional setting in 2019. According to her statements, Patrick Bruel served her tea before she gradually lost her bearings. The young woman then recounts a traumatic scene of which certain memories remain vague. She explains that she felt “the feeling of having been drugged” after this meeting.
In her testimony, the thirty-year-old describes a profound state of astonishment. “I see myself in her bed, lying on my side, being anal fucked. I’m not in my body,” she says. She adds that she felt “semen flowing between her thighs” after the alleged events. This new story comes as another Mediapart survey collects fifteen additional speeches. In total, nearly thirty women have testified since the first revelations. Faced with this accumulation of accusations, the controversy continues to gain momentum. A petition was also launched against the singer’s tour, even if the artist still denies all the facts with which he is accused.
Former Miss Florima Treiber comes out of silence
Among the women who agreed to testify is Florima Treiber, former candidate for the Miss France election. She says she met Patrick Bruel in 2008, when he was part of the competition jury. At the age of 20, the young woman dreamed of a career in modeling. According to her, the singer took her contact details backstage while discussing professional prospects. “I wanted to break into modeling, I said to myself: ‘It’s great, he saw my potential on stage, he believes in me'”, she explains. A few weeks later, Patrick Bruel would have invited her to attend a concert by Les Enfoirés, thus maintaining the hope of professional support in the artistic environment. Florima Treiber claims to have seen the singer again in April 2008 during the Molières ceremony, where she worked as a hostess. After the event, Patrick Bruel would have invited her to drink tea at his home. According to her story, the artist was insistent after she refused a glass of champagne. The former beauty queen explains that she reminded him that their discussions only concerned professional projects. “There, I was facing an animal, sweat on my forehead… And he told me that he had promised me nothing,” she declares today. For several years, Florima Treiber claims to have kept silent before finding the strength to talk about it to those close to her. Patrick Bruel, for his part, continues to firmly contest all the accusations.
