The pairs Iker Espinal-Baptiste Ducassou and Pierre Etcheverry-Luis Sanchez passed their first international test with distinction. The winners adapted perfectly to the conditions and requirements of the game without a back net. The two pairs won in two straight sets, respectively against the duos Peio Larralde-Peio Guichandut (15-11, 15-11) and Mathieu Ospital-Aitor Elordi (15-9, 15-5). They will face each other in the final, in rounds of 15 points (the best in 10 points in the event of a tie) and without a net from the bottom, this Wednesday, May 13 at 9:30 p.m.

Paid cohesion

During the first clash, the reigning federal txapeldun, Iker Espinal and Baptiste Ducassou, played in unison. Building on a cohesion forged during the championship, the two drivers led the debate meticulously. Skillful in the numerous errors provided by the international game, Ducasssou countered his rival who sought to confuse the cards via both walls. Up front, the ambidextrous Iker Espinal, who had a lot to do with Peio Larralde, defended the net and varied his shots, particularly from the left.

During the second part, Aitor Elordi (professional Spanish champion in 2023), positioned at the back, had difficulty keeping up with the pace set by his compatriot Luis Sanchez. Despite the attempts of Mathieu Ospital, who tried to intervene and take the initiative, Pierre Etcheverry and Luis Sanchez brought a lot of speed to the match (15-9, 15-5). Here too, the cohesion of the winners paid off.
