U.S. officials reported sightings of unidentified drones above the Washington Army base where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reside. The source of the drones remains unknown, and the military has heightened its monitoring of potential threats due to the escalating tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The Washington sightings coincide with a global security alert issued for diplomatic posts overseas and increased security measures at domestic bases, including Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. The U.S. has raised its force protection level in response to perceived risks.

Officials considered relocating Rubio and Hegseth from Fort McNair, but they have not been moved. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell declined to comment on the situation, stating that discussing the secretaries’ movements would be a security risk.

The State Department did not provide a response to inquiries about the incident at Fort McNair. As security concerns persist, officials have implemented security evaluations and lockdowns at sensitive installations, including MacDill Air Force Base.

The drone-related security incidents reflect previous threats against political and military figures, particularly in the context of tensions with Iran. The ongoing security challenges highlight the need for continuous vigilance and preparedness at critical military and government installations.
