Olivia Wilde Responds With Humor to Comparisons with Gollum from “Lord of the Rings” After Viral Interview An interview with actress Olivia Wilde recently went viral and raised many concerns.

Actress and director Olivia Wilde responded with humor this Sunday to unflattering comparisons with the creature from “Lord of the Rings,” Gollum, following an interview where she appeared in a less-than-flattering light.

In the midst of tabloid frenzy over her ex-partner Harry Styles’ supposed engagement to actress Zoë Kravitz, Wilde found herself being compared to one of cinema’s ugliest creatures: Gollum.

This was all due to an interview she gave last week to SFGate, a San Francisco-based media outlet, about her upcoming film. The video posted on TikTok, showing the star from an unfortunate angle, sparked a storm of discussions, including disapproving comments about her potential weight loss, concerns for her health, and comparisons to the cursed Hobbit from the “Lord of the Rings” franchise.

In response to the criticism likening her to a “resurrected corpse,” Wilde jokingly addressed the issue in an Instagram story posted on her account on Sunday. Wrapped up in a hoodie and several layers of blankets, she chuckled, saying, “Listen, it’s a fish-eye lens!”

“I admit it: was it my best angle? Was it my best look? No,” confessed Olivia Wilde in the Instagram story on Sunday.

“It’s surprising. It’s a surprising image,” Wilde said, laughing. “It was a fish-eye lens, and not the best. I don’t know why I was so close to the camera. It wasn’t necessary!”

Summing up her appearance in the interview as being “not very real,” she concludes by asking her brother, “Any other questions? I’m not dead.”

Taking things in stride, amidst her ex-boyfriend’s recent engagement and the public scrutiny, Olivia Wilde seems to be enjoying her return to directing, four years after the success of the surrealist thriller “Don’t Worry Darling.”
