After airstrikes in southern Lebanon, Israel targets Hezbollah. Israel conducted a new series of airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday, targeting dozens of pro-Iranian Hezbollah sites, according to the military.

The strikes continue in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in place since April 17, with both sides accusing each other of violations.

The Israeli army reported hitting “about 70 military structures and dismantling around 50 Hezbollah sites in several areas”.

These strikes took place in various locations in southern Lebanon, according to the country’s official news agency ANI. Israel had earlier issued evacuation orders for nine villages.

Hezbollah has claimed several attacks targeting Israeli troops, stating they were in retaliation for ceasefire violations.

Israel confirms damaging a “religious building” in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military confirmed Saturday that its forces had damaged a “religious building” in southern Lebanon, with a French Catholic association condemning a “deliberate” attack on a convent.

The army stated that forces operating in the village of Yaroun had damaged a structure on a religious site while dismantling what they described as a “terrorist infrastructure” in the area.

“It was noted that, during operations carried out (…) to destroy the terrorist infrastructure, one of the houses located at a religious site had been damaged,” said army spokesperson Colonel Avichay Adraee in Arabic.

Are Iranian dolphins being used by the navy against US ships? According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the Iranian navy is considering using dolphins equipped with mines to destroy US ships.

Dolphins have been used “since the 60s by the Russians and Americans,” says Eric Demay, a cetologist and founding president of the Dolphy Observatory, on BFMTV. He notably participated in the rehabilitation of two US Navy dolphins in Florida in 1995.

This is due to the “power” of the dolphins’ “echolocation system,” their ability to locate their surroundings through the waves they emit.

“They are able to, at a distance and in the middle of the night, in very murky water, recognize divers, mines, missiles, or boats because they have an echolocation system more powerful than the MRIs we currently have,” says Eric Demay.

However, according to him, they cannot “plant mines” because “mechanically it cannot work.” But they can be trained to “kill spy divers” and do “reconnaissance.”
