Donald Trump said on Friday, May 1st, he is “not satisfied” with a new offer from Iran to restart peace negotiations with the United States. “Maybe it’s better not to conclude any agreement at all,” the American president even suggested, further fueling total ambiguity about his intentions: withdrawal, resumption of war, or continuation of negotiations.

This is concerning Tel Aviv, which initially sought to dismantle or delay Iranian ballistic and nuclear programs during the war. An unachieved goal. “Israel fears above all that Washington will abandon its ally,” explains Bethsabée Salem, correspondent for LCI from the Hebrew state.

“Commentators and analysts with the best insight have no idea what Donald Trump will decide, he is unpredictable,” she continues. “On Friday, a senior Israeli army official, speaking anonymously, addressed the media and explained that if this enriched uranium was not removed from Iran as part of an agreement, the operation would have served no purpose.”

Should Israel therefore revise its plans and seize or destroy this uranium itself? It would require “returning to war. But without the Americans, I don’t see how Israel could get rid of this stockpile of enriched uranium,” a statement emphasized.
