Thirteen lively days of cinema, eleven screenings, and 206 spectators – in line with the 200 from the previous edition. The associative cinema Culture & Cinéma firmly establishes its musical event in the cultural landscape of Comminges. The festival bid farewell in a great atmosphere.

It all started well on Monday, March 30 with the opening of the Musiques & Sons festival at the cinema: internationally renowned trumpeter Aymeric Avice, accompanied by Thibaud Soulas and Benoît Convers in the Happy Moon Trio, warmed up the room before the screening of Tony Gatlif’s film “Ange.” A record start for the festival.

The evening “Vassiliu, from Pierre to daughter” then offered an intimate journey through the singer’s work, between documentary and live concert by Léna Vassiliu. A formula that is the hallmark of the festival: when music and images interact, the room naturally fills up. In terms of discoveries, the K-pop session around the concert-film “Stray Kids: the dominATE Experience” brought together both loyal and new attendees, sometimes from neighboring towns.

The highlight remains the closing on Saturday, April 11 with the cinema-concert, composed and performed live by Labo 7e – Nicolas Diconstanzo, Antoine Moulard, and Rémy Rimbaud, all three teachers at the local music school Musical’Isle. A territorial anchoring that makes this festival truly unique. The next day, as a bonus, the Friends of the Organs presented the concert by Mandolinata de Tarbes, with the support of Culture & Cinéma. The program included some movie music pieces slipped into the repertoire – a musical nod to extend the festival spirit for one more day.

Mark your calendars for April 2027 for a fourth edition that promises to be ambitious.
