DÉCRYPTAGE – The 150 pages of the program presented to the press this week are meant to establish “a new socialism for the 21st century.” On most of the proposals, the difference is one of degree, not nature, compared to La France insoumise.
To those who doubted it, the Socialist Party is indeed left-wing. The proof is in the program, which will be made public and presented to the press this Wednesday, but of which Le Figaro has managed to obtain the first drafts. Although published a year before the election, we dare not call this presidential project, as its ambition is evident from the outset. The work of over 150 pages is described in the introduction as the blueprint for “a new socialism for the 21st century.” That’s it.
An introductory statement highlights a world that has shifted towards an “authoritarian capitalism” operating through “predation.” The enemy of socialism in the 21st century, already close to a quarter, is thus easily identified: the “economic and financial oligarchy.” Guilty of turning globalization into “cartelization.” Guilty of subjugating the “political power” of the “great powers of this world: United States, China, Russia.” Guilty of being enslaved to the “ideology.”
