Nous l’orchestre
In “Indes Galantes”, Philippe Béziat directed a documentary on a show that brought together urban dance and lyrical singing at the Paris Opera. With his new proposal, he takes the viewer inside the Orchestre de Paris. Through this, he addresses the notion of collectivity. The words of different musicians are released, in addition to rehearsals and concerts, where everyone plays in harmony.
The author emphasizes the importance of respecting the score, which establishes a strict framework, with resulting frustrations. Everyone is there to be precise, “obeying,” with no possibility to create. Therefore, it is about existing differently, finding one’s place. Facing the camera, hopeful young people and older ones testify. The panorama is complete. The didactic aspect is nevertheless avoided thanks to the musical flights, with a “big sound” that amplifies the vibrations. By Philippe Béziat. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
