Victorious in a hard-fought match in Pau, the Tarbes team is keeping pace at the top of the table. Captain Damien Fachan reflects on this valuable success and talks about a championship finish that promises to be intense.

“It’s a victory that is particularly satisfying because you really had to dig deep for it, isn’t it?”

“This match is a reflection of the season we are having. We have incredible resources. With only four matches left, we are still able to find something deep within us. I have a clear image in my mind: Euclide’s save. It’s amazing to see such commitment, with three guys on the line to save the goal. This team impresses me. But deep down, I’m not so surprised because I know the group; for some, we’ve been playing together for three years. Such energy in a team is rare. I’m 35 years old, I’ve been in many locker rooms, but this one is really special.”

“It was crucial to get back on track today, and that’s what you managed to do.”

“Yes, it’s essential to excel in this home stretch of the season. My brother (Marc Fachan, the coach) emphasized it all week: we needed to restart the engine and not hesitate. We have always been able to react, and once again, we prove it. In a match like this, it was far from easy. We are progressing, and that’s what I consider most important.”

“Winning today was also a way to offer yourself two amazing home games in Tarbes, right?”

“We knew the fans would be there, but by winning tonight, we know they will be even more numerous. We enjoyed ourselves so much against Canet seeing the stands full… Now, we have two home games coming up. We’ll be able to savor them to the fullest. There are three matches left. Everything is coming together for us to enjoy. If we bring that energy and enthusiasm, everyone will have fun, regardless of the final result. If we play like that, it will be very hard to beat us.”

“Two home games, one with Ugo Tarbes where you risk being suspended. Cards were the downside of this match, right?”

“For my case, I will have to check. The suspension ends on the 18th, which is today. I’m not exactly sure about the regulations to know if it’s included or not, I might have a chance. For Ugo, however, it’s unfortunate. I don’t know how many we received, or how many they got on the other side. To be honest, I prefer not to even talk about it because it’s scandalous. But we will adapt. The substitutes have shown that they can start matches without any problem. We are a united group, my brother has often emphasized that. With three matches left, everyone is involved. We will continue on this path.”

“We can feel that there are some very beautiful emotions to experience in this championship finish.”

“Indeed, we are right in the thick of it. We will enjoy it to the fullest. We don’t know where it will end, so we don’t overthink it, we just enjoy. Now, we need to find our home ground again and recover the points lost against Canet. We will tally up at the end of the season.”
