For years, while Gad Elmaleh was experiencing wild success, his brother Arié suffered from being “the brother of.” Coming from Morocco to pursue his dream in France, the young man witnessed his older brother’s rapid rise in the world of comedy. It was not always easy for him, as he currently stars in the 6th season of “Treasons,” airing on M6 every Saturday night. In an interview with Closer magazine in its March 27th issue, the actor reflected on his challenging beginnings.

Since when did Arié Elmaleh want to become an actor? “I was 21, taking theater classes and my brother was becoming a huge star. It’s destabilizing because being constantly compared is painful,” he explained. This constant scrutiny led to questions about his true intentions, as he had to prove that his desire to pursue comedy came from within and not from opportunism due to his brother’s success. “Some thought I was doing this job by imitation, but that’s not the case. It was a very personal decision,” he shared.

The actor had previously mentioned the time when all French people adored his older brother, saying, “It was tough when I was younger. I was not reassured and could think that people didn’t like me for who I am, but because they saw my brother in me,” during an interview with Télé-Loisirs in January 2024.

After finishing high school, Arié Elmaleh initially studied law in Strasbourg with hopes of becoming a lawyer. However, he soon realized it wasn’t his calling and returned to Morocco to reflect on his future. This led the 21-year-old to move to Paris to take theater classes and pursue his dream. Despite facing challenges, he never gave up. “We struggle, but we discover people, we learn about life, human nature. I have mostly good memories. I did all sorts of jobs: pizza delivery, children’s entertainer, carpet cleaning in companies,” he recalled.

Despite the difficulties, he persevered and now feels like he has truly found his place, shining as one of the strongest players in Season 6 of “Treasons”!
