In the context of the “Grand Meeting of the National School of Administration (ENA)”, a conference-debate was held on April 17, 2026 in the institution’s main auditorium. It was themed “The political and security situation in Central and Eastern Europe”, with Wojciech Zajączkowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, as the speaker.

During his presentation, Wojciech Zajączkowski emphasized Poland’s preference for peaceful diplomatic solutions to conflicts, stressing the importance of good faith from partners engaged in dialogue processes. He also mentioned the historical similarities between Poland and certain African countries, marked by periods of foreign domination, while highlighting that Poland has never been a colonial power in Africa.

Regarding the relations between Poland and the African continent, he noted that they date back to the 1960s, after the countries gained independence. In the case of Chad, diplomatic relations began in 1977.

Reflecting on the evolution of Polish foreign policy, the Undersecretary of State explained that in the 1990s, Poland experienced a transition period that limited its external engagement. The priorities then were focused on EU accession and NATO integration. Today, with regained stability, Poland shows a renewed willingness to strengthen partnerships beyond the European space.

In this context, he stated that Poland aims to develop relations with African countries, especially Chad, in a spirit of mutually beneficial partnership based on trust, transparency, and the principle of “win-win”, without hidden agendas.

Discussions with participants covered the outcomes of cooperation between Chad and Poland, as well as the Polish perspective on global geopolitics.

The “Grand Meeting of the ENA” is an initiative of the institution aimed at enriching the reflection of future elites in training. It serves as a space for open dialogue and debate on major contemporary political, economic, and social issues.
