“A continuous closure, 24 hours a day”, for two weeks in the province-Paris direction: this is the plan announced by the Paris Region Road Authority (Dirif) for the Nanterre-La Défense tunnel, during the fire safety system modernization work scheduled from Monday, April 20 to Saturday, May 2, 2026. Here are the details of the closed sections.
Interchange Ramps Also Closed
The work requires the closure of the current section of the A14, in the province-Paris direction, which includes a part of the tunnel, from the entrance of the A14 tunnel in Nanterre to the beginning of the La Défense tunnel, according to Dirif.
“Some interchange ramps from the A86 (inner and outer) will also be closed. However, ramps from the N192 and N1013 will remain open to traffic,” added the institution.
Detours will be set up for users coming from the A86 and the A14 highway (province-Paris direction) who wish to reach the La Défense tunnel. They will be directed towards RD914 towards Paris, then towards the Patrick Devedjian and Pierre Gaudin boulevards (RD993), also towards Paris.
The €3.3 million renovation work aims to replace sections of pipelines and add plumbing equipment “to ensure the performance and reliability of the tunnel’s fire safety system”. These works are a continuation of those already carried out in 2022.
