The 48th Annual Gwinnett Regional Science, Engineering + Innovation Fair recently took place at the Gas South Convention Center, bringing together students from across Gwinnett County to showcase their work in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The event aimed to connect young talent with current leaders in STEM industries.

The theme for this year’s fair was “Building Our Future: One Project at a Time,” and students from elementary, middle, and high schools presented a variety of projects to judges. Projects like MicroMCED: A Novel PoC SERS PNA Probe Multicancer Early Detector and Enhancing Dementia Independence with an AI Assistive Wearable impressed the Directors of K-5 Science and 6-12 Science from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS).

According to the directors, students demonstrated not only scientific skill but also empathy and purpose in their work. They highlighted the potential impact of student projects on STEM fields and the local community in the near future.

The Gwinnett Regional Science, Engineering + Innovation Fair has been a tradition for over 40 years, reflecting the county’s commitment to fostering scientific literacy and producing skilled engineers and researchers. The event relies on the support of professionals in the science and engineering fields who serve as judges, as well as sponsors, partners, volunteers, GCPS staff, and community members to make it a success every year.
