A jazz quintet and a classical string quartet: the Blue Rose Project takes up residence at the abbey.
On Sunday, April 19, the Abbey of Caunes-Minervois offers guided musical tours as part of the Tournée Insolite. This ambitious cultural and musical project aims to transform nine emblematic heritage sites in the Pays Carcassonnais into unique stages. An adventure where the music of the Blue Rose Project, a jazz quintet, and a classical string quartet meet history and the beauty of the heritage. Pianist composer and arranger Philippe Léogé has created a rich and original repertoire specially for this formation, harmoniously combining the compositions of Thelonious Monk and Astor Piazzolla.
Embarking on this new and original experience, under the leadership of solo trumpeter Dominique Rieux, the Blue Rose Project has also explored the incredible possibilities offered by the encounter between jazz music, classical music, and heritage.
On Sunday, April 19, at the Abbey of Caunes-Minervois, visitors will be able to experience a unique sensory experience. “These are exactly the type of projects that we take pleasure in welcoming to our site,” explains Djamel Baghdadi, deputy mayor, delegate for culture, heritage, abbey, and tourism. “An original, unprecedented moment of sharing and encounter, which combines several artistic forms and plays with the specificity and constraints of the location. This promises a unique moment, in total harmony with the heritage site, because it was designed for it.” The specificity of the project also lies in the fact that the unusual visit is at the usual rate without any surcharge, at 6€ for everyone. Five time slots are planned, with a limited number of seats. It is therefore highly recommended to reserve.
This project led by Atomes Productions is supported by the European Union (Feader), the GAL of Pays Carcassonnais (Leader), the Occitanie Region, Carcassonne Agglo, and the Montagne Noire Community of Municipalities.
Musical tours: 10 am, 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, 4 pm, and 5:30 pm. Each tour lasts one hour. For more information and registration: development@mairiedecaunes.fr and www.abbayedecaunesminervois.fr.
