First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, vehemently denied any connection to the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday, a scandal that her husband, President Donald Trump, has long downplayed. “The lies associating me with the heinous character that is Jeffrey Epstein must stop today,” Melania Trump declared in front of the cameras, in a surprise appearance at the White House.
“People who lie about me are devoid of any ethics, humility, and respect,” she added. It was not immediately clear what Melania Trump was referring to, nor why she chose to speak out on Thursday. “For years, many false images and statements about Epstein and myself have circulated on social media. Be wary of what you believe. These images and stories are completely false,” the First Lady continued.
“I have never been involved in any way”
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested and charged in July 2019 for sexual exploitation of minors and conspiracy. He was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial. The autopsy concluded it was a suicide.
The US Department of Justice has released over three million files related to the investigation into the disgraced financier, showing the extent of his connections to prominent figures. “I was never aware of the abuses committed by Epstein against his victims. I have never been involved in any way. I did not participate,” Melania Trump stated, as photos showed her, along with Donald Trump, at events with Jeffrey Epstein in the New York City jet-set scenes.
“I have never been accused or convicted of a crime related to sex trafficking, child abuse, and other despicable acts of Epstein,” she further stated, urging Congress to hold a public hearing for Epstein abuse survivors to “give these victims the opportunity to testify under oath.”
